I'm starting this thread to tell everyone about a bad ass horror flick I caught at SXSW called The Roost. The writer/director/DP was Ti West, a super cool dude with a hell of an eye and an amazing understanding for classic horror. Behold...

The film picked up distribution at the LA Film Festival, so with some luck we should be seeing it in the cinemas around Halloween this year. I can't stress this enough: GO TO A LATE SHOW, AND TAKE A DATE!! It's that kind of flick.

Undead kicked ass. I caught that at the previous SXSW, and it just hit the theaters recently but in a limited release. I don't think it played in Texas, or if it did I missed it. Should be on DVD soon if not already though.
You can't beat an Australian hillbilly with kung-fu spurs, Matrix moves, and a 3-barrel shotgun who hides pistals up his ass. You just can't. |

Hey they should put outworld on the City of the Walking Dead soundtrack.
Yeah Cry Wolf looks about as awesome as I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. I'm, like, so there.
For the record, I love the Scream series. And The Faculty kicks ass. But that's where I draw the line on the 90's "eight teens in a row on the poster" thriller films (no way I'm calling them horror.)

Hey this is coming out FRIDAY! If you live near Houston, Austin, Dallas, NYC, LA, or Boston, you need to check it out! This really is a kick-ass, oldschool horror film. It's what all the classic horror film fans have been waiting for (well, this and Necrophobia of course), so you need to do yourself a big favor and go see the midnight show in the theater!
